From July 24-26, 2024, MEP Green Design & Build was honored to attend the 28th Annual International African American Hotel Ownership & Investment Summit & Trade Show, hosted by the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators, and Developers (NABHOOD). Held at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay in Miami, FL, the event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with influential figures in the hospitality industry and showcase our expertise in engineering design for hotels and resorts.

Representing MEPG at the conference were Pat Powell, our Director of Business Development, and Kiana Olmstead, Business Development Manager for the SE US and Caribbean. As first-time attendees, we not only participated in networking sessions but also exhibited at the conference. Setting up a table, we had the chance to connect directly with attendees interested in learning more about our comprehensive MEP engineering services. The conference’s intimate setting encouraged open and insightful discussions with hotel owners, developers, investors, and architects, allowing us to explore potential collaborations and share ideas on best practices within the industry.

With over 1,800 completed hotel and resort projects, MEPG’s decision to attend and exhibit at NABHOOD’s Summit was rooted in our commitment to further strengthen our presence in the hospitality sector and expand connections in the Caribbean and beyond. The sessions were particularly insightful, featuring industry leaders and experts such as:
●    Dr. Andy Ingraham – President/CEO of NABHOOD
●    Bill Fortier – Senior Vice President Development, Americas of Hilton
●    Brandon Harris – Director of Development, Select Brands at Marriott International
●    Miraj S. Patel – Chairman of AAHOA
●    Evens Charles – Managing Principal of Frontier Development & Hospitality Group

Each speaker brought unique perspectives on hotel development, investment strategies, and the future of hospitality. Their expertise and insights provided us with actionable ideas to further refine MEPG’s approach to sustainable, innovative solutions within this industry.

We left the event inspired and motivated by the connections we made and the guidance shared by industry veterans. MEP Green Design & Build is eager to continue building on these relationships and looks forward to participating in future NABHOOD events to support and expand our reach within the hotel and resort industry.
